RODRIGUE GEORGES + Horizon | Near By
Tuesday, July 26, 2010 - 7:15 PM - Montreal based Guitarist Rodrigue Georges just released his latest album entitled "Near By". Born in Haiti, he was exposed early to the music of his mentors: Joe Pass, West Montgomery, Georges Benson, Dadou Pasquet and Norman Brown.
As one can expect, his playing exhibits nuances and colors acquired from a culture of this longtime passion for the music of these stellar figures. This talented Smooth Jazz guitarist reveals exceptional skills, and his passion fuels the album track after track. Rodrigue works on a large palette of rhythms and grooves, easily recognizable to jazz aficionados. Even though he claims influences and inspiration from other jazz icons, he already crafted his own blending sounds and techniques to create a remarkable musical identity.
With his new band Horizon, the guitarist seems to add another set of new pieces to the Kreyòl Jazz registry by bridging the popular genres of the Caribbean to Jazz and the well-like R&B.
